MUSIC MEMORABILIA WITH A VERY
RARE
TWIST.
This photo of Johnny Cash and Elvis Presley taken on that historical date of December 4th,  1956 and known as the
MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET
photo
is not what it may appear to be.  Try to find this photo ANYWHERE on the Internet,  in magazines,  music archives - AND YOU WILL NOT FIND IT.  Why ?  Because the photo was never published.  It was taken the same day as the famed "Million Dollar Quartet" photo was taken when Sun Studios owner Sam Phillips called the local newspaper to tell them a "one in a million"  event was happening:  That being that Elvis just happened to stop by to say "hello" to the man who discovered him  (Elvis was an RCA star at the time),  but the same exact time Johnny Cash stopped by for one of his first paychecks for Folsom Prison,  and Jerry Lee Lewis was "pounding"  the piano for a session with Carl Perkins who wrote and recorded "Blue Suede Shoes."  The newspaper photog rushed over and took photos.  The rest is history.   BUT...some photos were kept in the personal possession of Elvis's family and entourage.  This one of Elvis and Johnny Cash was held by famed "Memphis Mafia"  member
Charlie Hodge,
the guitarist and man on the stage who brought Elvis his water and the scarves he wiped his forehead with and threw out to the screaming girls.  Charlie was Elvis's #1 man who lived at Graceland.  Charlie was a close friend of my father,  Ken Kittinger,  who reunited briefly with Charlie after Elvis passed.  Charlie gave this photo to Pop who had it duplicated and had Johnny sign a number of copies.  The original autographed copies were sold from Pop's estate some time ago,  but I had the original copied and offer it here along with the colorized photo of "The Million Dollar Quartet."   A COA from the legendary "Kittinger Estate"  which held more than 5,000 items from his 50 years of gold & platinum award making and popularity amongst virtually every country music star in Nashville over 5 decades accompanies this item.    Please provide your name for the COA.
Ken  (Pop)  knew Sam and his sons and made gold and platinum awards for Sun Records over the years.  He knew Johnny,  June and the Carter family and was close to them until their and his deaths.
