Every dry suit is custom hand-made. Following measurements are needed:
1. Height
2. Size of clothes you wear (bust, waist, hip, back-waist length - see
US_standard_clothing_size
)
3. Shoe size
4. Arm length (neck to shoulder to elbow to wrist resting on the waist)
5. Back-waist length (neck spondyl to waist)
6. Average waist circumference
7. Leg length (waist to floor)
8. Hip circumference
9. Wrist circumference
Optional, but very important measurements:
1. Leg length (groin to floor)
2. Hip's biggest circumference
3. Shin's biggest circumference
4. Forearm's biggest circumference
5. Elbow's biggest circumference
Years before we've tested dry suits made of red kapron (fosta nylon).
They weighed up to 7 pounds and had uncomfortable edgy rubber cuffs and not the best rubber boot (which hurt like hell when got folded in wellies).
We've also tried rubber dry suits. They have the longest life span, but need care. They could weight up to 10 (!) pounds. Not manufactured anymore.
As a passionate caver myself I would say that our dry suits are the lightest and most comfortable on the market.
Although this dry suit is intended primarily for "on foot & on rope" exploring wet and cold caves, it is also being used by divers to lessen the weight of equipment you have to carry to the sump (you don't need to take an extra dry suit other than the one you're wearing).
The diver's version comes with waterproof latex neck cuff (without hood) in order to prevent ear barotrauma that might occur in hooded version during the dive.
For diving purposes you would need to additinally install inflator valve and exhaust valves (manual vent).
To prevent head heat loss you can use separate neoprene hood.
The deepest dive I've heard of was in in Krubera-Voronya cave in 2012 from -2145.5 to -2196 meters (50.5 m).
