THIS pack of cedar shake shingles contains approximately 300 pieces of brand new, cedar wood shake shingle pieces for adding that special touch to your bird houses, crafts, kits, name tags, party table numbers, scratch built buildings, and doll houses, mines, structures, and model railroad buildings.
Each piece measures approximately 3/4 inch wide by 1 1/4 inch long by 1/16 thick. Considering you would leave 3/4 inch exposure when overlapping, one bag covers about 225 square inches. ** We suggest you order enough for your entire project because each batch made is a different shade. We CAN NOT match shades.
INSTRUCTIONS: We suggest using silicone as your adhesive since it will allow 15-20 minutes workable time vs. hot glue which sets instantly. Other wood glues will also work. Start your first row on the bottom edge of the roof line. Use a straight edge (ruler) to align the bottom. Allow first row to dry completely, then as you start your second row, stagger the seams and leave as much reveal as you would like (we suggest about 3/4 inch). Once again, line up the bottom edge of the shingle with a ruler to make them even at the bottom. The top edge will vary because our shingle sizes are slightly different as we cut them, but it doesn't affect your roof because it will be covered by the next row. Continue this process until you reach the peak of your roof, trimming any as needed.
