    Description

Inscription on bottom says: “Wade ‘Festival’ England.” This is a jug or creamer pitcher with wide spout and decorative handle. It is copper lusterware around the rim, on the handle and base, and in leafy designs on the body. On both sides are male and female dancers in relief and hand painted. It measures 6” top of handle to base; it is 5 1/2” wide; and the base is 3 5/8” in diameter.
The hallmark on the bottom — see photo — matches one shown online with date of 1953.
Copper luster ware was made by applying a copper solution to the pottery before the final firing stage. Wade Heath developed a reputation for their copper lusterware and this squat jug is a fine example of their work. It was manufactured by Royal Victoria Pottery Works, Burslem, Staffordshire, England, in 1953, judging from the trademark on the bottom. Wade Heath & Co. was founded in 1867.
