PLEASE NOTE :Thanks to another of the many non-paying bidders I have had to deal with in the last 2 years or so, I am having to relist this pair of nice original wheels. I am sorry for any confusion this may have caused you and appreciate your patience here. Thanks a lot, Bob Woodburn phone 406-7 nine 9-1847 in Bozeman Montana USA.
I can ship these wheels anywhere outside of the USA, Canada or Mexico most economically in 2 separate packages using Priority Mail International from the United States Postal Service. Unfortunately, I will have to remove the tires from the rims because the packages will be too large to ship if the tires are included. The eBay shipping calculator does not allow for using multiple boxes to ship anything so the shipping charge will be twice (2 times) what is listed here. I can also have these wheels and tires delivered to the port of Los Angeles California where they can be included in a large sea going container being shipped to any country in the world.
This listing is for a pair of very nice original 26" Studebaker car front wheels. I believe they may be correct for the front of the 1916 and 1917 Studebaker automobiles. They might also fit earlier or later cars that did not have front brakes. The ancient tires from the 1920's are marked 34 x 4 - 105 / 660 Firestone Cord. They are high pressure black tires with gray side walls. Please notice the red Firestone F crest on these very interesting old tires.
I have not yet tried to see if these tires still hold air. One inner tube valve stem still has it's original screw on cover while the other valve stem is missing it's screw on cover.
I believe the steel rims and felloe bands are still wearing their original black paint. It appears that someone used a brush and gray paint to repaint the wood spokes and felloe many years ago. I found these treasures in a collection of cars and parts that were accumulated in the Phillipsburg Montana area back in 1961. The elderly previous owner could not recall any information regarding any of the history of these wheels and tires.
The pair of original nickel plated Studebaker screw on hubcaps are still in good condition with some minor surface rust and corrosion as you can see in the photos.
All of the wood in both of these wheels appears to be still very tight and in excellent condition. One can expect to pay around 0 per wheel to have wood like this replaced. Replacement rims can cost around ,000 each if they are turned on a huge lathe by Coker Tire.
If you don't need these for your favorite Studebaker project, you may want these to hang on the wall of your basement, den or garage for a very special decoration.
I can arrange to have a friend safely delivery these to most parts of the USA for 0 or so depending on where you live and how soon you need or want them. Thanks a lot, Bob Woodburn in Bozeman Montana USA
