Shakira’s diet and exercise tips help pop star look decades younger than her age

For decades, Shakira has been shaking her hips that don’t lie thanks to a healthy lifestyle.
The 47-year-old performer has put out 12 studio albums, went on six tours, four of which were worldwide, and performed at the 2020 Super Bowl halftime show. Yesterday, she also put on a pop-up performance at Times Square.
To do so, the Colombian has had to work hard to stay in shape. Shakira reportedly maintains a morning routine that helps her to “realign and refocus” to stay “present,” which includes ditching her phone. She also works out six times a week, eats small fresh and healthy meals throughout the day and lastly, and maintains a simple skincare routine.
Shakira likes to use her morning to spend quality time with herself and her kids with technology out of sight and mind.
“[Shakira’s friend and trainer Anna] Kaiser doesn’t let me turn on my phone until I finish my workout and spend time with my kids,” the mom of two said in an Instagram video.

Kaiser further explained to E! News: “There are just so many things happening at one time. Plus she’s a mom, she has kids and she wants to spend time with them too.”
“There’s just not enough hours in a day,” she added. “So we have to refocus. Refocus, realign, and find ways to try to be present.”
Shakira is constantly switching up her workout routine but aims to get in movement six days a week, resting on Sundays.
Time permitting, Shakira does more intense workouts that Kaiser sets up at her fitness studio, AKT, ranging from sports conditioning to dance intervals, HIIT and circuit classes.
She also shared on Instagram that she loves listening to pop-punk band Green Day to hype herself up.
Shakira has shared that she strives to eat small, nutrient-rich meals throughout the day. While she is stricter with her diet in preparations for events such as her Super Bowl performance, where she decided to temporarily cut pit sugar and dairy, she usually aims to eat a balanced diet while allowing herself to indulge in moderation.
“She’s good about it in general, but she will treat herself,” Kaiser said. “Balance is really important. Having those moments where you’re allowed to cheat every once in a while is also very important.”
Kaiser said she works with Shakira’s chef to prepare meals and snacks for the work days, noting to Shape that the musician doesn’t like supplementing.
“Breakfast could be eggs or avocado with olive oil, tomato, sea salt, then a smoothie, berries, plant protein, sometimes greens or green powder,” Kaiser explained to E! News.
“Then for lunch, we have fish and fresh vegetables or a salad with lots of colors. Afternoon is, I know it gets really busy, but we’ll do a soup. There are some really good artichoke soups, or it could be a leek and eggplant soup, carrot ginger, and sometimes with a side of cucumbers with lemon and salt.”
She adds: “For dinner, she’ll also do fish and veggies. It’s usually cold for lunch and warm for dinner.”
However, sometimes, she’ll switch out the protein for Shakira’s favorite: pork chops.
Lastly, she has sometimes has pure dark chocolate “with little to no sugar in it” as a treat.
